Where did the year go?

It's been ages since we last posted here so I though I should give a summary of what is going on at Larkspur House!

Hopefully you are all still curious as to the well being of Posh and Pecks, our lovely hens! Well, they are both doing great and have a new home.

We moved them from their fairly dry but quite dark shelter under the decking as we had concerns it was too dark. We constructed a new run out of a set of aviary panels and placed the Eglu in there. The hens seemed a lot happier so we think we did the right thing. The old run can be used in case we need to separate them or introduce new ones.

Recently, Pecks has been losing her feathers around her neck and we noticed a bald patch on top of her head. We think this is one of two things, the start of the moult or Posh is plucking them. So we are trying to think up some ways to prevent this - maybe it's because they are bored?

Moving on, we are also doing other stuff at Larkspur House... we didn't post about it but we converted our front garden into a raised bed area for fruit, herb and vegetables! We'll post more details later and keep updated on this blog as to our progress this year.

Hope you are all well and if you have any questions please feel free to ask away!
